Pitting Corrosion of Type 316L Stainless Steel Elaborated by the Selective Laser Melting Method: Influence of Microstructure

Abstract The microstructure of two sets 316L alloys (SLM and wrought structure) is determined using SPECTROMAXx stationary metal analyzer, FE-SEM/EDS XRD. physical–chemical properties the passive films are also investigated by means XPS, Auger after sputtering electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. Differences similarities between then identified. corrosion behavior in NaCl solution at macro- microscale (microcapillary technique). It was found that inclusion/particles cleanliness first-order parameter explaining differences 316L(WS) 316L(SLM). In absence particles (pure matrix), have same behavior. Residual stresses, average grain size, PREN second order.
